The Good - my father in law is home! He came home last night. We are anxious to hear how the first night went! It is unbelievable to me to only spend 5 days in the hospital when you have broken your neck for goodness sake! I know it is everyone's prayers that have helped him get this far this quickly.
The Bad - he is in a halo. Looks something like this:
He'll be in that for 12 weeks!! YIKES! They tell us it's a much better option than surgery. He's healthy and strong and this is why they chose this option. It's also why we're anxous to hear how he did last night. He'll have to sleep in a recliner. Luckily, this does not pose a problem for Grandad. He's known to fall asleep on the couch with his head straight up. I'm not even kidding. He does this almost every night and has since I've known him...about 12 years!
The Ugly - besides the look of the halo thing...the ugly is the way the truck looks. Scary! The funny thing is that it still starts!

I'm glad he is home. I'm sure the halo will take some getting used to by all. Medical equipment is some scary stuff until you get educated about what it does to help.
Those are some scary pictures of the wrecked vehicle.
